Ithaca, NY

We went chasing waterfalls in Ithaca, NY.  Tag along on Ben's work trip #2!

We picked up some breakfast at the French Bakery and then went for a little hike.

It's still true that a stick in a hand makes hiking 10x more fun.

It was a beautiful hike, but the waterfall was a little anti-climatic.
This is what hiking with 2 middle school boys looks like:

We drove to an overlook to get a better look.

Some more exploring

The hotel had a couple of restaurants attached to it.  We had several meals of poke bowls and bao buns.

It was another great getaway.

Lake Placid

Ben travels quite a bit for his current job (which is a lot less than the guy before him because he's intentional about being home as much as possible) and it's starting to feel like a lot.  So we decided that whenever possible, we're going to join him on trips.  Trip #1 was to Lake Place, New York.

We drove up Thursday morning and our first stop was to the John Brown Farm.

If you look closely, you can see Maya's little head...she was determined to get on top of the rock with the kids.

We went for a little hike, which was perfect after the car ride.

Then we spontaneously stopped by the olympic ski jumping facility.  We thought we would just look around, but ended up being able to watch some training!

And then took a gondola ride up to the very top.  It definitely gave me a whole new appreciation for those athletes.

We made our way to our hotel and it was perfect.  It had its own sliding glass door out to a private patio.  It was great for Maya and I believe she approved of the accommodations (she loves sun bathing).

It also had a pool that the kids were in love with.

Ben and I were able to go for a run around the lake a few times and we explored the downtown area.  The next day we went Kayaking and swimming.

It was so refreshing to get out of the city and soak up some lake life.

First Day of School

Taking some deep breaths as we start this school year.  Only 1 more first day of school picture for this girl!
Junior year!

And this year feels unique as both boys are in middle school.  I still don't think in middle school ways (I'm still stuck in the Junior High mindset) but it works nicely for programs we're involved in.
