iPad love

We have welcomed an iPad to our family, and have fallen in love.  It's been the perfect entertainment for me in the middle of the night.  Ben and I agreed that we wanted the kids to be closely monitored while using it, but we far underestimated how much Eliot would love this thing.  I keep it on the nightstand in the nursery and we will often catch him sneaking in there to play.  He's remarkably good at the Thomas puzzles and will always ask for help with the first piece, followed by a "thank you mommy!".  I love hearing his 'thank you mommy's'.  I don't however love hearing him shouting "mommy no!", but it was pretty funny hearing the ap repeat it.

Learning

I'm learning how to be a mommy of a boy, and I better learn quick because soon I'll be a mommy of 2 boys!

Lesson 1: Be quick on your feet

Lesson 2: Never leave snacks on the counter

In the millisecond I had my back turned, Eli pushed a chair up to the counter, climbed up and dumped out the entire bag of goldfish. Oddly enough, my first thought was, "Geeze, you don't get very many goldfish for $2!".

Later that night, he did the same thing and finish my beloved box of Samoa Girl Scout Cookies. However, this prego mommy was not laughing this time.

That's my kids...

Eli is constantly into something...literally.
Yesterday he got stuck in the kitty cube. I heard him hollering, "HELP! HELP!" and found this:

Alison is constantly talking.
On the way to the grocery store this morning, out of the blue, she asked me when she could get a tattoo! What?! I told her never because God made her beautiful just the way she was and she didn't need to change a single thing. I asked her why she was thinking about tattoos (I don't even know how she knows about tattoos!), and she said, "They're just so pretty".

Last night Ben was giving the kids a bath and he made a comment about how great brothers are to Alison. Then he said, "maybe you"ll have TWO brothers!" Alison said, "NO! I'm having a sister." Ben asked her how she knew the baby was a girl and she said, "I just decided I wanted a sister, and here she is!". Ben asked her what she was going to do if the baby wasn't a girl. She said, "Well, then I lost my chance."

A Little Time

I thought I'd take a little time "off" the other day and get some things done. I turned on a fun show and set out some coloring stuff to entertain the kids and thought we'd enjoy a little quiet time. Eli was not entertained and our quiet time was just what he needed to figure out how to climb on top of tables. He started with the Elmo table...

and worked his way up to the kitchen table.
I seriously took him off, from sitting right smack dab in the middle of the table, at least 4 times.

Just when I thought he understood, "when I say no, I mean no!"...he found the music table.

He was eventually confined to the pack n' play. Alison asked to join him...she was pretending to be a kitty in a cage. It cracked me up-Alison WANTED to be confined...Eli was using his snack bowl as leverage to climb out.
My quiet day wasn't quiet and not much actually got done, but I did enjoy a day "off" of just playing with my kids.

Guard the Chairs

We have a climber on our hands!

He moved the Elmo chair into the kitchen all by himself.
Placed it strategically by the counter, hoisted himself up

and whacked my coffee spoon on the counter, like it was a drum.

Oh, the things boys find fun.
