All of the kids have used/are using Saxon Math. Even though I always tell them to not draw or write in the book, so we can reuse them, Alison has left the boys little notes in several lessons throughout the years. It always makes us laugh when we come across one...there are a lot of COVID notes :)
When Colin was younger, I would often use gummy bears or chocolate chips to illustrate a new math concept. The other day, he was struggling with a problem and went to get the chocolate chips to help him figure it out. It made me laugh.
We went on our nature walk by the water with some of our homeschool friends. It was 40 and very windy, but non of my kids would wear a coat. I am often told "I'm not cold".
In fact, Colin was offended one day that I kept telling him to put warmer clothes on. So, I said, "Fine. I'm just going to start telling you go put a swimsuit on."
He wore his swimsuit the whole rest of the day.
We went bowling with our homeschool group. Reminded of Michigan life.
Colin had the most fun. Alison had just hurt her ankle and probably should not have even played, but she still had a good time.
Being a homeschooler on Long Island means that all of your friends are spread out all over the island and are often 30-50 minutes away. Thankfully, we have Alicja and Damian that live just 5 minutes away and are over at least once a week.
Why be a homeschooler if you can't make candles on a random afternoon?
