Our fall vacation, part 1...of many

After so much of life counting down days to being together, it's so nice to have some vacation time.  We've tried to balance doing nothing with occasional outings.

Ben put a new game on our "play" phone for Eli.  It was a game he started playing on the ship and they spent a good chunk of time one morning like this:

It's so nice to see him sitting in that chair again.

Monday, we went swimming at the Y so the kids could show daddy their new pool moves.  Ben got a small taste of my summer...endless "watch this!" coming from 3 different directions.

Tuesday, we went to Williamsburg.  Our goal for this vacation is to do some educational things without it seeming like it's educational...we try to be sneaky like that, but Alison wasn't fooled.  We watched the blacksmith making a ladle.  This may be our last picture of Ben holding both boys.

We also took a tour of the Capital.  The guide was a little too into it for our small children, but they did a great job listening.

Alison and I read 'Anne of Green Gables' over the weekend and watched the movie today with some kettle corn.  It was a fun afternoon and made me so excited that she's old enough to enjoy these classics with me.  I guess 'Anne of Green Gables' isn't really a classic...but I don't really know what genre it goes in.

Eli is especially loving this vacation time because it means lots of time that he can get away with wearing pajamas during the day.  He has spent a lot of time snuggling with Ben and we keep saying that we never want to forget this:

Within the next 6 months, this will probably stop happening...at least the holding part; hopefully the snuggles last a really long time.

We went to the park this afternoon and Colin wanted to push daddy.  So Ben lifted up his legs and Colin would push and then he'd swing back and almost knock him over.  He thought it was hilarious.
