Alison was intent (even scooped poop to earn money to buy the ingredients) on making double-layer cupcakes. Ben asked if he could help her and they spent the afternoon in the kitchen together.
Her creating didn't quite happen as she visioned and it didn't help that we can't keep frosting from melting here, but they still tasted great!
The Baker's came over for dinner and then we set off a few fireworks.
The neighbors were also out and had their for-real smoke bombs (they are both border patrol agents).
Dahlia is a fellow "I'm a really small" kid and her and Colin were so cute watching the fireworks together.

Now I want cupcakes. What were the layers?
Her original idea was to make it like a layered cake with frosting in the middle, but Ben had her make a layer of white and then a layer of red cake and frost it with blue. But the white and red just melted together so it looked kind of marble-y
