4th of July

We had a simple 4th of July this year. This actually was the first year Ben was home for 4th of July since we've moved to Michigan. He left this morning for Kentucky and last night was one of the few short windows of quality time we have together this summer. We grilled steak for dinner and played with Alison until bedtime. We were prepared for her not to sleep since it sounded like we were in the middle of a war zone and she's big time teething right now, but she pleasantly surprised us and didn't make a peep all night. Ben built a bonfire and we made s'mores and watched the firework show from the comfort of our backyard. It was a perfect evening in my books; home with my family and s'mores...I don't know how it could have been any better.
