5th grade catch up

5th Grade rocks.  As a teacher, you finally see the fruit of all the building blocks you've been laying since preschool.  Subject matter is more interesting and curriculum starts to be more student lead.  This is especially helpful when you have little brothers that need more teaching time.

5th grade for Alison looks like this; Saxon Math 5/4, Following the Plan (Grammar), Writing Strands, Spelling, Latin, Logic, History (Story of the World, Early modern times) and Science (Sonlight, biology).

Highlights of 5th grade so far;

We hosted a cooking class:

We took a trip to Kansas to see the eclipse and visit family.  We got to go fishing too!

We took a trip to the San Diego Zoo:

Went spelunking in Flagstaff:

Alison's favorite thing to do is stretch.  She has taught herself many tricks and increased her flexibility to unimaginable feats.

Trip to the Grand Canyon with Grandma and Grandpa:

Lego Land:

We spent a lot of evenings outside by the fire pit:

Always stretching:

She is helpful in the kitchen and always has great ideas for things to cook.

She also helped me throw a baby shower and sewed sachets as party favors:

My little girl is growing fast!
