Kindergarten catch up

Colin has always wanted to hang out with us in the schoolroom while we work, but this year he's been able to do more of his own work.  ABC Mouse (on the computer) is still what he works on while I'm teaching the others, but has started Saxon Math 1, Printing Power (Handwriting Without Tears) and a Kindergarten workbook  He loves drawing and coloring while he waits as well.  He listens to science and history with Alison and Eli, but most of his work comes at reading time.

This is what it takes to keep him still to learn:

Just joking.
Ben kept teasing Colin that he was going to tie him down if he couldn't work on his reading lessons.  They sent this picture to me one day when I was out to make me laugh.  It worked.
There are days that he can't sit still for 2 seconds and there are days that he reads books for an hour.  Whatever Colin is doing though, he makes sure it's fun.

Some highlights of Kindergarten so far;
We went to Kansas to see the eclipse and visit family.

Grandpa taught Colin how to shoot a bb gun.

He played Upwards soccer (Team Cheetahs) with his bbf Tolson.

We went to his favorite place; the zoo!

Also took a trip to the Grand Canyon.  This was our second trip, but Colin didn't even remember the first time...hopefully this trip sticks.

Colin is the best helper, especially when it comes to working with daddy.
Helping daddy build a garden:

He decided his hair needed trimmed and cut it himself.

And he learned how to ride a bike!

More helping...bike riding and helping are his top favorites.

And always keeping learning fun:

Colin has already grown so much in the last few months, I can't wait to see what the rest of the year looks like!
