Winter here means it's 40's-50's in the morning, but gets up into the 60's-70's during the day. If the house gets under 72, we're all cold and bundled up in blankets. It's pathetic. One morning at breakfast the boys were so cold they couldn't eat without being bundled up. I'm sure it was like 71.
Eli spent a couple of afternoons trying to make juice from the remaining yellow oranges on our tree. It cracked me up that he was wearing his coat.
Just had to document that I'm alive and not in pj's.
Kent had the brilliant idea of giving Colin a manipulative to play with while doing school, in hopes of helping him concentrate a little better. He'll sit in the schoolroom all day long, but actually getting his own work accomplished is a different story. Sure, he has Eli's poem memorized and Alison's math facts down, but he couldn't tell you what sound the letter A makes.
There are things I love about the kids getting older; this is one of them. Alison helping Colin make play dough.
Only problem was, once the play dough was made, they ALL wanted to play.
Eli's "cheese" face:
Colin wanted daddy to see his snowman. He used an apple stem as the nose:
Speaking of getting older, Alison wanted to earn some money for a purse at Claire's and asked if she could clean the cars. Ben is the car washer of the house, so the cars were looking really bad. It was fun to see her out there working hard.
The boy's had a birthday party this week, so I took the girls to get out of the Star Wars way. Freddie's just opened up here, so we went to check it out and got some custard.
We also made gingerbread men this week. Eli has also been pretending a lot that he's a witch...hence the outfit.
Random: it should also be noted that Colin gave up his blankie and sucking his thumb this week. His blankie is actually nowhere to be found, but he has assured me that he is okay without it. I guess everyone is right and he gave up his thumb when he was ready.
